Instagram, Facebook messenger down: Users are facing issues while sending messages

It seems that some Meta-owned platforms are down for some users. Several users from across the globe have reported that they are facing some issues while sending DM messages on Instagram. Some users have also reported a similar issue with the Facebook Messenger app.
Users have reported that the messages are automatically disappearing as soon as they are sent. The issue is mainly with the DM section of the Instagram app and it has been almost 12 hours since the first issue was reported.
Downdetector has also recorded the issue as it currently shows a big jump in the graph for Instagram. According to the report, users from across the world are facing this issue. Along with that, the Downdetector website has reported that around 40% of users are also facing login issues on Instagram.

What is the issue?
According to users’ reports, most of them are facing issues while sending and receiving Direct Messages on Instagram. It is a partial outage where most of the app is working fine including stores, reels, feed, etc. The only issue is with the Inbox section of the app where messages are getting disappeared automatically just after they are sent.
Meanwhile, the company hasn’t released any official statement about the ongoing outage neither users have received any update or fix for the issue at the time of writing the article.
