Instagram has announced that it ‘s adding two new modes — Following and Favorites. The two new modes change the way how the main feed works, bringing back reverse-chronological view. Here’s all about them:

Instagram’s description for the Following feed is: “See the latest posts from accounts that you follow, in the order they were posted.”

The Favorites mode will allow users to star up to 50 accounts, and posts from them will show up higher in their main feed. Users will be able to view these posts in a separate Favorites feed, which Instagram says starts with the most recent posts.

The new chronological option is not on by default. The algorithmic Home feed remains the default. The Following and Favourites feeds will be added. Users can move between the three feeds by tapping on them.
