If you’re a content creator and frequently use desktop applications to edit photographs and videos, you probably hate having to migrate files to your smartphone just to post them. Instagram is trying to improve this experience by working on an update that will let you post straight from your desktop. All you need to do is use your web browser to log into Instagram, and upload your content straight from your computer.
How will the desktop version of Instagram work?
Instagram will let you post content straight from your desktop once you log into the app using your credentials. You will also be able to see new content on the app by accessing the Explore page, and you’ll also be able to access other profiles and interact with their content.
Other Instagram Updates in the works
Instagram is working on a bunch of new updates to improve user experience. The company’s developers are exploring the possibility of letting users post stories that are longer than 30 seconds. You might be able to post 60-second long stories on your instagram page. Additionally, videos that are up to 60 seconds long will not be broken into different segments.
Instagram is also planning to club IGTV and post videos into one video format that they’ll be calling Instagram videos. This is primarily because the IGTV app isn’t bringing the ROI that the company had originally expected, with Reels being a preferred format for most creators.
Finally, Instagram is working on a new feature called Instagram Nudge that should help teens take a break from constant scrolling. This feature was announced after the company began facing backlash for knowing how it impacts teen mental health.
