iOS 16.1 coming soon: To bring battery percentage indicator to these ‘missed’ iPhones – Times of India

After five long years, the battery percentage returns to iPhones. With the launch of the iPhone X in 2017, Apple removed the battery percentage from the status bar and moved it to the control panel, requiring one more step to see how much battery was left. Apple said the move was taken because there was not much space left due to the introduction of Face ID.
Now, somehow, Apple found a way to squeeze in the battery indicator in the status bar with the iOS 16. But, there is a catch. Even after the iOS 16 update, the battery percentage only shows up on a few of the ‘notch’ iPhones including iPhone X, iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max and the new iPhone 14 lineup.
So, the iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini, and 13 mini do not show battery percentage in the status bar, and Apple does not state why. But, these iPhones may soon get the ‘percentage’ indicator with the upcoming iOS 16.1 update.
Macrumors reports that the iOS 16.1 beta adds the battery percentage on the iPhone models, which were left out initially, including the iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini and 13 mini. So, these iPhones should get the feature when iOS 16.1 rolls out widely, which could be soon.
As for how you can turn on the battery percentage in the status bar on these iPhones? The procedure remains the same as other iPhones. You need to head to Settings, then Battery and toggle on the Battery Percentage.
