iOS 16 will warn users when they try to pair ‘fake’ AirPods with iPhone – Times of India

Apple has already announced that it will start rolling out the latest version of its operating system — iOS 16 on September 12. The latest version of the operating system offers multiple useful features. One such feature will enable users to spot ‘fake’ AirPods.
According to an online report by 9to5Mac, iOS 16 will now warn users if they try to pair counterfeit AirPods with the iPhone or iPad. As per the report a code was found in the release candidate beta released for the developers which highlight the existence of the feature. The code found reveals that iOS 16 can detect ‘fake’ AirPods. Some of the counterfeit AirPods available in the market look exactly the same as the original ones and they can also trigger some system features.

The latest version of the operating system will now alert users whenever they try to pair duplicate AirPods with their iPhone or iPad. “These headphones could not be verified as genuine AirPods and may not behave as expected,” the message reads.
The users will then notice a ‘Learn More’ button which will reportedly redirect them to a support article on Apple’s website with more details. The article will also educate the users on how to identify original AirPods. The alert will also give users the option to not connect the AirPods with their iPhone. The report also adds that presently there is no information on how Apple will block the fake AirPods from working with iPhone or iPad.
This new feature will not affect the other third party headphones available in the market. Users can still use other iOS compatible earbuds and headphones with their devices.
