iPhone 13 users unable to noise cancellation for phone calls due to major iOS 15 glitch

Apple iPhones come with noise cancelling features. It enables them to reduce ambient sound on phone calls when the receiver is held close to ears. All iPhone models from iPhone 5 to iPhone 12 offer this feature. However, it was never available for iPhone 13 users who now have been waiting for months for Apple to address this issue.
The feature can be turned on from Settings > Accessibility > Audio/Visual > Phone Noise Cancellation. However, the toggle button just does not appear for iPhone 13 series. The missing feature was highlighted by a Reddit user throwawayowl999 who complained that the iPhone 13 lacks a front mic used for noise cancellation. “How can Apple remove such a basic feature from a 2k USD phone in 2021? I have a rotting Galaxy S6 Edge here, and the call quality isn’t comparable. The S6 is crispy clear, perfect voice, zero background noise, both on the sending and receiving end. The iPhone 13 Pro Max: hissing sounds, crackling, feels like the old Alcatel days”, he says.
Another Reddit user dagocarlito says that the issue is because of a glitch and that Apple is currently working on the issue. Although the resolution timeline is not confirmed yet. “The iPhone 13 has ‘never’ had this option with iOS 15 because it’s a glitch. I’ve been speaking with Apple Support regarding this. It’s a known issue they are working on with no resolution timeline at the moment. This issue also creates problems with echoes on CarPlay when talking between iPhone 13’s. It is a major flaw that needs to be resolved asap.”
The issue was also a part of discussion on Apple forum in october this year. However, iOS15.2 and iOS 15.3 beta failed to fix the problem.
Noise cancellation was introduced on iPhones with iOS 7 which debuted with the iPhone 5. The feature, when enabled, reduces ambient background noise on phone calls when a user is holding the receiver to the ear.
