iPhone 14 Pro Geekbench score reveals little improvement over iPhone 13 Pro

Apple claims the new A16 SoC is the fastest chip ever on a smartphone and the results speak. The A16 Bionic chip ships with two high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores. Leaker ShrimpApplePro has posted the alleged Geekbench scores of the iPhone 14 Pro. However, these numbers are not very impressive.

iPhone 14 Pro Geekbench score

The alleged iPhone 14 Pro Geekbench results show the iPhone 14 Pro results are not very high considering the hype surrounding the A16 SoC. It has managed to score 1,879 in the single-core test and 4,664 in the multi-core round. For reference, the iPhone 13 Pro Max scored 1,734 and 4,818 points, respectively in the same test. The iPhone 13 Pro scores were 1707 in single-core and 4659 in multi-core. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 which is fuelled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC has scored 1,304 and 3,782 on the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.

These alleged iPhone 14 Pro Geekbench numbers are relatively not that high when compared to the competition. Apple claims that the CPU is up to 40 percent faster than the chipset compared to rivals. It has an accelerated 5-core GPU with 50 percent more memory bandwidth and a new 16-core Neural Engine can perform around 17 trillion operations per second.

It should be noted that Apple’s A15 Bionic SoC is already ahead of the competition and the company didn’t really have to work much on the A16 SoC, and secondly, the Geekbench numbers could be based on a pre-release unit and there’s room for improvement. We can speculate the official models could perform better. Apple is emphasising the A16 SoC will aid in all-day battery life and boost computational photography features.
