iPhone 14 Pro may come with an all-new powerful charger: What to expect – Times of India

Android smartphone makers have really taken a lead — and that too by a considerable distance — when it comes to chargers. OnePlus’ recent flagship phone — the onePlus 10T — ships with a 150W charger that can charge the phone ridiculously fast. Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo — all have phones that come with really fast chargers. Apple, on the other hand, for starters doesn’t give the charging adapter with the iPhone. The one you can buy offers up to 20W of charging speed. This, as per rumours, could change with the iPhone 14 series.
According to a report by 9to5Mac, which quotes Twitter user DuanRui, the iPhone 14 Pro models could offer 30W charging support. Earlier this year, noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi also suggested that Apple could ship a new GaN charger with 30W support and a new design. Apple did release a new 35W dual charger with the MacBook Air in June 2022. So it won’t come as a surprise to see a relatively fast charger come along with the iPhone 14 series.

Apple’s ‘slow’ transition to fast charging

Apple has improved the battery performance of iPhones over the years. The iPhone 13 Pro, it has to be said, delivers one of the best battery performances out there. Having said that, the charging speed of the iPhone has remained remarkably slow. With the iPhone 11, Apple increased it to 18W, which jumped to 20W with iPhone 12 and 13 series. And if this rumour is to be believed then the maximum charging speed will be 30W for the iPhone 14 series, perhaps only for Pro variants. Whatever be the case, do remember that you will have to buy the charging adaptor separately only as it is highly unlikely that Apple will go back on shipping a charger with the new iPhones.
