iPhone 15 Pro models may ditch clickable physical buttons

Apple has already started working on its next-generation iPhone 15 series of smartphones. The company is expected to launch the smartphone series later this year. Now a new report has surfaced online suggesting that Apple may replace the clickable buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro. The smartphone maker may replace the volume and power buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro with solid-state buttons.

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is planning to introduce solid-state buttons in the upcoming iPhones. “My latest survey indicates that the volume button and power button of two high-end iPhone 15/2H23 new iPhone models may adopt a solid-state button design (similar to the home button design of iPhone 7/8/SE2 & 3) to replace the physical/mechanical button design,” tweeted Kuo.

As per Kuo the iPhone 15 Pro models may include two more Taptic Engines which offer haptic input when buttons are pressed and they don’t move like the physical buttons. This is something similar to the Force Touch trackpad present on newer MacBooks and the solid-state Home button which was introduced for the first time in iPhone 7.
Kuo also revealed that in the coming future Apple may increase the presence of Taptic Engines in more devices. He also stated that Cirrus Logic is the manufacturer of the Taptic Engine processors used in iPhones.
It is expected that the inclusion of solid-state buttons on iPhones may improve the level of water-resistance in iPhones.
Apple is expected to include its own A17 chipset in iPhone 15 models. The new chipset may focus more on battery-life improvements than processing power. Moreover, iPhone 15 series will include four models, with bigger feature differences than the iPhone 14 and all the models will feature USB-C charging ports, reveals a report.
