It’s Magic! Honor denies that its new phones are rebranded Huawei Mate 50 models
Honor CEO Zhao Ming deflects questions about the Magic 3 series being a rebranded Huawei Mate 50 line
But Honor’s Zhao simply deflected the question and said in response that “Since November 17th, we are two independent companies. The two companies have carried out business expansion, research and development and other related work along their own business development strategies. We maintain good relationship with each other.” So in other words, is the Honor Magic 3 a rebranded Huawei Mate 50? Zhao says that this is a hard “no.”
Honor’s top executive preferred to praise his team at Honor. “Frankly, we should give tribute to the Beijing R&D team of Honor for making the Honor Magic 3,” he said. “They have been working on this for 8 months, starting from December last year.”
Huawei has reportedly postponed the Mate 50 series until next year
The Honor Magic 3 series is made up of the Honor Magic 3, Honor Magic 3 Pro, and the Honor Magic 3 Pro+. The trio all sport a 6.76-inch 1344p display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phones are packed with the 5nm Snapdragon 888 chipset and the Magic 3 Pro+ is equipped with a 50MP main wide camera using a custom Sony IMX 707Y 1/1.28-inch sensor, a 64MP ultra-wide camera, a 64MP monochrome camera, and a 64MP periscope telephoto camera with 3.5X optical zoom.
