What is the Jio 5G Welcome Offer
The company has announced this offer for select customers who will be able to use Jio 5G for free in the cities where the connection is already available. Under this offer, Jio will allow users access to unlimited 5G data with up to 1 Gbps speed. It is important to note that all customers who are residing in the areas where Jio 5G is already available will not be able to avail of this offer. This is an invitation-only offer and customers have to fulfil some eligibility criteria to get hold of the offer.
Jio 5G Welcome Offer: Eligibility criteria
To receive an invitation from Jio to use its 5G network, customers have to register their number with the company. After registering the number, Jio will decide if that particular user is eligible to use Jio True 5G.
However, there are some eligibility criteria that customers have to meet even before they register for the invitation. Jio’s official site claims that users will need to have Jio 5G-compatible device and has to stay in an area where network coverage is available to be eligible for the invitation. Moreover, Jio users also need to have an active plan of Rs 239 or higher for prepaid and all postpaid users to get an invitation from the company.
Jio 5G plans
Jio is expected to launch its 5G plans once the service reaches more cities in the upcoming months. The company is planning to spread Jio 5G connectivity to all the major cities by the end of this year and wants to cover the entire country before 2023. Until then, select customers will be able to use Jio 5G for free. Moreover, Akash Ambani has also earlier assured that Jio’s 5G plans will be affordable for Indian users.
Jio 5G: Supported smartphones
Several smartphone brands including — Samsung, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, Realme and Nothing have already launched system updates to make their devices compatible with Jio 5G. Apart from this, other phone makers are yet to push the OTA update for 5G connection and are expected to roll them out before the end of this year.
Meanwhile, Apple is also expected to roll out the 5G update for iPhones in December. The Cupertino giant has already launched 5G support with its iOS 16.2 beta which is available only for a handful of users.
