Reliance Jio, last week confirmed that the JioPhone Next is on schedule and will come on Diwali this year i.e. November 4. Now, the upcoming phone has been spotted on Google Play console listing with major specifications and features. The listing suggests that the phone may have a 5.5-inch HD+ screen and may run on the Android Go operating system.
JioPhone Next was first announced at Reliance Jio’s annual general meeting (AGM) 2021. It will be the company’s affordable 4G phone. JioPhone Next is being developed by Jio in partnership with Google. It was initially expected to be launched in September this year. The launch was postponed till November due to a global chip shortage.
JioPhone Next likely specs
Reliance Jio’s budget Android phone is mainly targeted towards the feature phone users who still use the 2G network for connectivity. The smartphone is rumoured to come powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 chipset paired with 4 Cortex-A53 cores and an integrated Adreno 306 GPU. It is said to run on Android Go- the toned-down version of Android for entry-level phones.
JioPhone Next will come preloaded with Google Play, and apps like DuoGo and
Google Camera Go. It will also feature a Snapchat lens that will be directly accessible from the
phone’s camera. Reliance Jio has already confirmed that the upcoming device will get major Android OS and security updates.
On the hardware front, the device may come with a 5.5-inch HD+ screen with 1440 x 720-pixel resolution. The phone’s display may support 320 DPI screen density and may offer an aspect ratio of 18:9. JioPhone Next may pack 2GB and 3GB RAM. This could be paired with up to 32GB of internal storage.
On the pricing front, the handset is said to be an affordable 4G phone. Previous leaks suggested that it could be priced at Rs 3,499.
