Kompanio 1300T: MediaTek announces Kompanio 1300T chipset for high-end tablets
MediaTek has announced its latest chipset to power tablets. The company has unveiled the MediaTek Kompanio 1300T SoC. It is built on 6nm process technology and comes with features like 5G, multimedia, AI and gaming technologies.
Kompanio 1300T, MediaTek says, will allow OEMs to build powerful, lightweight and portable tablets for online education, business, streaming services, gaming and AI applications.
As mentioned above, the new chipset is built on TSMC‘s 6nm process technology. It integrates an octa-core CPU with Arm Cortex-A78 cores and Arm Cortex-A55 cores. Additionally, it is equipped with nine-core Arm Mali-G77 MC9 GPU that can support high frame rates for longer, smoother gaming.
The Kompanio 1300T incorporates MediaTek’s APU (AI processing unit) and is claimed to deliver powerful, energy-efficient AI computing power for the latest voice and visual applications. The chipset will support 5G networks. It comes with support for 5G sub-6GHz bands, 5G-2CA as well as Dual 5G SIM along with 5G Elevator Mode & 5G HSR Mode enhancements.
As far as multimedia is concerned, the new chipset is said to come with support for multiple-scene HDR10+, AI-PQ (picture quality) technologies and MediaTek’s chip-level eye protection engine to filter blue light.
It comes with additional support for dual-monitors with two full HD displays and 4K HDR video recording technology. The Kompanio 1300T also supports 2.5K displays with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.
The company says that the latest chip enables multi-camera designs with 108MP cameras, 4K 60fps video encoding and decoding, multi-depth smart focus and AI-clear streaming. It offers AI-powered voice assistants and integrates an ultra-low power voice on wakeup (VoW) function.
The new platform comes with MediaTek’s HyperEngine 3.0 and gaming optimizations. Kompanio 1300T provides support for full bands for 5G Sub-6GHz and 2CC carrier aggregation (2CC CA), Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 for faster wireless connectivity.
