Nothing Phone (1) software update: patch note

The latest Nothing software update tweaks the behaviour of the Glyph interface. It changes the Flip to Glyph lighting effect and makes it much more subtle, with the LEDs now only glowing once. The Glyph charging light effect now synchronises with the sound effect.

This latest Phone (1) patch also brings support from Google AR Core. It also adds support for the Jio 5G network in India. Besides this, the firmware patch note says it brings some improvements in the camera and the smartphone’s UI, like more accurate battery status and fluid UI interface experience, and fixes some unnamed general bugs.

It improves stability while recording video and also sharpen the video quality. Next, the recording red light indicator will be always-on by default. Previously, you had to enable this feature using the camera setting menu.

Lastly, it refreshes NFC sound effects and increases the maximum brightness when viewing HDR content. This was a standard firmware release, and we’ll still have to wait for the Android 13 update on the Phone (1). The company promises to release the Android 13 OS on the Nothing Phone (1) in the first half of 2023.
