LG’s new earbuds offer features that Apple and Samsung can’t match
With every technology firm on the planet launching a pair of wireless earbuds, it can be almost impossible to stand out from the ever-growing crowd. However, LG has done just that with the launch of its all-new LG TONE Free FP9 buds.
These new earbuds enjoy all of the usual features we’ve come to expect, such as Active Noise Cancellation, 24 hours of playback, and easy pairing to a smartphone. However, they also come packed with a brilliant upgrade that finally fixes one of the biggest issues of wireless ‘buds.
If you’ve ever owned a pair of AirPods or Galaxy Buds you’ll know how frustrating it is when you want to use them with gym equipment or the inflight entertainment on a plane.
There’s no way of plugging them into the 3.5mm headphone port, which often means taking a second pair of wired headphones with you when you want to work out or watch some movies on the plane.

In fact, LG is boasting that the UV-C LED built into the TONE Free cases is tested to reduce bacteria on the earbuds’ speaker mesh by 99.9 percent in just five minutes.
So that’s the new FP9 wireless buds, but there are two other audio products also launching including the FP8 and cheaper FP5.
The FP8 gets most of the features found on the FP9 although they don’t get that Plug & Wireless upgrade. The entry-level FP5 include ANC, long battery life and IPX water-resistant rating but owners miss out on the UV light and they won’t beam the blockbuster movie from the plane to your ears either.
LG says that the new LG TONE Free FP series will be available starting this month in a range of colours such as Charcoal Black, Pearl White and Haze Gold. Pricing to come soon.
