TL;DR
- The LG Velvet has received Android 12 in Korea.
- There’s no word on wider availability just yet.
- The company previously promised that the Velvet would receive three OS updates.
LG exited the smartphone business just under a year ago, bringing its long run in the industry to an end. The company did however pledge to provide software updates to some phones.
Now, the company has announced in Korea (h/t: GSMArena) that the LG Velvet is currently receiving the Android 12 update. There’s no word on a wider release just yet, but it likely means that global Velvet owners will also get the update in the coming weeks and months.
LG also highlighted a few Android 12 features the Velvet will get. These additions include camera and mic icons when they’re in use, a new ‘approximate location’ permission, and automatically revoking permissions for inactive apps.
The Korean brand promised three OS updates for several smartphones (including the Velvet), so we’re guessing that this is the penultimate upgrade as the device launched with Android 10.
There’s no word on Android 12 updates for other LG handsets just yet, but it seems likely that the V60 and Wing will be next in line.
