MacBook Air 2022: MacBook Air 2022 to feature new form factor, more colour options, claims analyst – Times of India

Apple could launch the 2022 MacBook Air in a new form factor and could also bring more colour options to the device, tech analyst Ming Chi-Kuo has claimed, as per a report by Apple Insider. The tech analyst also predicted that the device would be powered by an M1 chipset and could make it to the markets by Q3 2022. He, however, added that the upcoming MacBook Air won’t have a mini LED display.
The tech analyst’s claims are in line with other rumours that have also claimed that the 2022 MacBook Air will ship out in a new form factor which resembles that of the current MacBook Pro models. Previous rumours have also mentioned new colour variants of the device, in addition to it having a thinner and hence, lighter frame.
Considering that Apple refreshed the MacBook Air last in 2020, with an M1 chipset, it is likely that the device could ship with an M2 chipset instead this time, but all of it is up for speculation for now. The tech giant is expected to unveil the new MacBook Air at one of the coming events this year, and could also reveal the product at WWDC, which is traditionally held in June.
At the recently concluded Apple event, the tech giant launched the new iPad Air, which starts at Rs 54,900 for the Wi-Fi version. The new iPad Air comes in 64GB and 256GB storage variants and the colour options include Space Grey, Starlight, Pink, Purple and Blue.
It is powered by Apple’s own M1 processor, first seen in Apple’s Macs and 2021 iPad Pro models. Another upgrade in iPad Air 2022 is the addition of 5G connectivity. The new iPad Air also supports USB-C port and is claimed to be up to twice as fast with 10Gbps of data transfer speeds. However, there is no Bluetooth 5.2 or even 5.1 support.
