The 15-inch MacBook Air is expected to be a wider version of the 13.6-inch variant that Apple unveiled at WWDC 2022. The report suggests that Apple was planning to launch the 15-inch variant alongside the 13-inch but decided to drop the idea. It is expected that the 15-inch MacBook Air will feature the same M2 processor which Apple unveiled with the 13-inch MacBook Air.
The smallest MacBook may arrive soon
If the report by Bloomberg is to be believed then a 12-inch MacBook is also in the works. The report reveals that the 12-inch MacBook will be the smallest in Apple’s MacBook lineup and is rumoured to arrive by end of 2023 or early 2024. If the 12-inch MacBook does arrive then it will be the smallest version Apple has launched in four years. It was in 2019 when Apple discontinued the 12-inch MacBook.
The report also suggests that Apple will upgrade the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. However, these upgrades will be incremental in the sense that the design aesthetics won’t change but the processing power will be improved. The current 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro feature M1 Max and M1 Ultra processors. Bloomberg reports that the M2 Max processor — likely to feature in upgraded MacBook Pro models will have 12 processing cores and up to 38 graphics cores. The M1 Max processor has 10 processing cores and up to 32 graphics cores.
