macbook pro: Several 2021 MacBook Pro users are facing issues with the SD card reader – Times of India
The SD card slot on the new 2021 MacBook Pro was among the most highlighted features by the company. However, it seems that some users are facing issues while using it.
MacRumors is reporting that several users have posted complaints about the SD card reader on latest MacBook Pro models not working properly. Some users have reported about slow transfer speeds, while some mentioned about inaccessible files while using an SD card via the built-in slot.
MacRumors reader named Wildct has coined the issue as ‘super flakey’. The user has mentioned that half the time it will recognise the card, but it takes a lot of time to do that. While half the time it returns an error. The user also mentioned that the problems he is facing are with Sandisk Ultra cards. The user further added that all these cards worked flawlessly via the three USB ports that comes with the laptop.
Another post from 2Stephan reads, “It’s very frustrating. I was hoping that import from SD card including preview of images would be quick on my new 14″ MBP. I have a fairly new 64GB SD card which had been working fine. But Photos on the MBP using the internal SD card slot takes minutes to show photos and sometimes crashes half way through. Sometimes the Finder crashes too”.
Although, Apple is yet to acknowledge the SD card issue on 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro that was launched this year and also confirm whether it’s a software or hardware issue. Some users are also reporting that upon contacting Apple, they’ve been told that the company is aware of the issue and a fix is coming in the future software update.
