‘Mass’ resignations at Twitter but Elon Musk isn’t “super worried” – Times of India

Two days after Twitter CEO Elon Musk gave an ultimatum to Twitter employees about accepting big changes at the company, there has been a wave of resignations. According to multiple online reports, Twitter employees took to the company’s internal Slack channel announcing that they are leaving the company.
What Musk wanted employees to do
All Twitter employees got a rather rude shock when they received an email from Musk at midnight on November 16. Musk made it clear that he wanted Twitter to go “extremely hardcore” and underlined that he expected everyone to give long hours and work with more intensity. He also said that only exceptional performance would get noticed. Further, he sent a Google form to which employees had to say “Yes” or accept three months’ severance and leave the company.
Hundreds of employee say ‘no’ to Musk’s Twitter 2.0
According to a report by The Verge, an employee on Slack wrote, “I’m not pressing the button. My watch ends with Twitter 1.0. I do not wish to be part of Twitter 2.0.” Reports suggest that there have been mass resignations. “Multiple “critical” engineering teams inside Twitter have now either completely or near-completely resigned,” noted the report by The Verge.
“To all the Tweeps who decided to make today your last day: thanks for being incredible teammates through the ups and downs. I can’t wait to see what you do next,” tweeted Esther Crawford, an employee at Twitter.
Musk, meanwhile, in a tweet made it clear that he is not “super worried.” “The best people are staying, so I’m not super worried,” eh said in a tweet. And in another tweet he said that he thinks “we can keep Twitter alive”.
There has been a massive exodus of employees at Twitter since Musk took over on October 28. Before Musk came in as CEO, there were reportedly 7,500 employees at Twitter. Before he sent out his “ultimatum” employee, reports suggest that the headcount had reduced to 2,900. And now with this wave of resignations, it’s not clear how many people still work at Twitter. Clearly, the new CEO — in his own words — isn’t “super worried” at the exodus.
