MediaTek announces Dimensity 920 and Dimensity 810 based on 6nm process

MediaTek has announced the successor of Dimensity 900 and Dimensity 800 chipsets. Dubbed as Dimensity 920 and Dimensity 810, the new chipsets are based on TSMC’s 6nm manufacturing process.
Intended for mid-range devices, both the SoCs are octa-core CPUs and bring minor performance improvements over their predecessor. The major difference between the two is in terms of high-performance cores. The Dimensity 920 features Cortex-A78 cores, while the Dimensity 810 comes with Cortex-A76 cores.
Both the SoCs are expected to arrive later this year.
MediaTek Dimensity 920 chipset: Features
The Dimensity 920 is more powerful between the two and it comes with two different core types that include the Cortex-A78 clocked at 2.5GHz and Cortex A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. The high-performance cores are meant to handle more intensive tasks like gaming, editing, etc, while the low power cores are for lightweight tasks.
MediaTek is also claiming a 9% gaming performance boost with the Dimensity 920’s Mali -G68 MC4.
Apart from that, the chipset supports LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage or LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. The SoC also includes a 5G modem and VoNR service.
MediaTek Dimensity 810 chipset: Features
The Dimensity 810 sits lower than the Dimensity 920 in the Dimensity family. It is also the first 800 series chipset to be built upon a 6nm process. It comes with Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and Cortex A55 cores. As for graphics, it comes with Mali-G57 MC2 and it supports LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.
