The new MediaTek Pentonic 1000 processor will be used in smart TVs and is expected to be commercially accessible by Q1 2023. Meanwhile, Chromebooks powered by the latest Kompanio 520 and Kompanio 528 chipsets will also be available on the market by the first half of 2023.
MediaTek Pentonic 1000: Key features and other details
Pentonic 1000 is MediaTek’s latest flagship chipset that can power 4K 120Hz smart TVs. The new processor supports multiple visual improvement features like — MEMC for a smoother experience, Dolby Vision IQ with Precision Detail, an efficient AI engine and an 8-screen Intelligent View. This smart TV platform also supports global TV broadcast standards and modern video codecs.
MediaTek has also included its enhanced AI-Super Resolution (AI-SR) technology in the new chipset that makes Full HD look like 4K. Moreover, for realistic depth perception, the chipset is equipped with two more features to boost picture quality which are AI-PQ Scene Recognition and AI-PQ Object Recognition.
MediaTek T800 chipset: Key features and other details
MediaTek’s T800 chipset offers better 5G experiences and applications for sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G networks. The company’s new 5G solution succeeds the T700 5G modem and the new chipset can be used for multiple purposes including — M2M, IoT and always-connected PCs. MediaTek’s T800 supports download and upload speeds of up to 7.9 Gbps and 4.2 Gbps, respectively.
MediaTek Kompanio 520 and Kompanio 528 SoCs: Key features and other details
These two new chipsets are designed specifically for Chromebooks. Both Kompanio 520 and 528 processors claim to upgrade performance and battery life for entry-level Chromebooks. These SoCs have two premium Arm Cortex-A76 CPU cores and an enhanced dual-core graphics engine for enhanced performance.
Both octa-core CPUs with minimal memory and storage options to increase data throughput which makes multitasking easier and offers quicker boot times. To further improve AI enhancements and AI camera functions, both new chipsets have a dual-core AI processing unit (APU). Chromebook brands can also use MediaTek’s Filogic Wi-Fi 6 solutions with these chipsets to make streaming and cloud gaming faster and more reliable. These new chipsets include the Arm Mali G52 MC2 2EE graphics units and will support Full HD display at 60Hz refresh rate and 32MP cameras.
