MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset launched for better gaming, camera-centric smartphones
MediaTek Dimensity 7200: when can we experience it?
The MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset is the first chipset to be launched under the series. According to the company, the chipset will arrive in 5G smartphones launching in the global market in the first quarter of 2023. The company did not disclose which smartphone will be the first to carry it, but keeping the timeline in mind, we can expect it to be sooner.
MediaTek Dimensity 7200 features
The company says that the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 uses the same TSMC 4nm second-generation process as the Dimensity 9200 and is perfect for ultra-slim designs in a variety of shapes. The octa-core CPU combines two Arm Cortex-A715 cores, which can run at up to 2.8GHz, with six Cortex-A510 cores, so that users can easily switch between apps and get the most out of each one. MediaTek’s built-in AI Processing Unit (APU) makes AI tasks and AI-fusion processing as efficient as possible. This helps improve power and performance even more.
The MediaTek HyperEngine 5.0 technology gives gamers AI-based Variable Rate Shading (VRS) to save power, CPU and GPU smart resource optimization to help the battery last longer, and other improvements to make gameplay smoother. The chipset also has a powerful GPU called Arm Mali G610 that allows for fast response times and keeps frame rates high.
The chipset claims to support 200MP main cameras for epic photography by utilising MediaTek’s Imagiq 765 and a 14-bit HDR-ISP. It supports 4K HDR video capture. Meanwhile, other important features of the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset include support for Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E, 144Hz refresh rates at FHD+ display resolutions, and variable rate shading based on artificial intelligence.
