meet: Google Meet to get integrated with Docs, Slides and Sheets
Google has some new announcements for Workspace users. The search giant has decided to integrate Google Meet with its three online office tools. Google Meet will now be available for these three Google Workspace apps — Docs, Slides and Sheets. This will help in boosting productivity and will be useful for the ones who frequently collaborate on documents.
Google has made efforts to make sure Meet is accessible to all users which has now become one of the most popular video conferencing apps in the world. Google Meet already has a standalone app and is also included in Gmail as a separate component.
Google Meet’s new integration with Docs, Slides, and Sheets is aimed at helping users to collaborate more easily while they are working with multiple users on a single document.
Using this feature, you can directly start a Meet call with others while you are — writing a document, putting together a presentation or entering data into a spreadsheet alongside keeping a focus on whatever you’re doing.
The company has shared a screenshot to show the Meet integration on the desktop. It shows that the call UI and controls will appear in a simple sidebar on the right of the document which will also have an option to easily share the content with everyone on the call.
Google announced this feature in 2021 and was planning to release it in the same year, but it seems the company delayed it due to some setbacks. There is no official confirmation from the search giant about this feature being available on mobile devices. The tech giant has mentioned that this Meet support will be available sometime over the next couple of weeks.
