messenger: What are Soundmojis: How to find them on Facebook

Facebook Messenger introduced a new feature called Soundmojis earlier this year. The Soundmojis let you send short sound clips in a Messenger chat. From clapping, crickets, drumroll and evil laughter, to audio clips from artists like Rebecca Black and TV shows and movies like F9, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Bridgerton.
The company launched an entire Soundmoji library for users to choose from. The library is updated regularly with new sound effects and famous sound bites. Each sound is represented by an emoji, keeping the visual emojis in play, while bringing sound into the mix.
As of now, the Soundmojis are only available in Facebook Messenger app but as the company has started to integrate the backends of its other platforms such as Instagram and WhatsApp, it is rumoured that we may be able to see the feature in other messaging apps soon. If you want to try the Soundmojis feature on Messenger, you can follow these steps.

  1. Open the Messenger app on your smartphone.
  2. Tap on the chat where you want to share the Soundmoji.
  3. Tap on the smiley icon at the right hand side in the message box.
  4. From the menu, tap on the speaker icon.
  5. Now, you will be able to see all the Soudmojis that are available in the app. When you tap on a Soudmoji, you will be able to hear the sound it is paired with.
  6. Once you have finalised the Soundmoji that you want to share. Tap on it.
  7. Tap on the Send button at the top to share the Soundmoji with another user or a group.

This week, Facebook has also introduced Dark Mode, the ability to add voice effects to voice messages and the ability to start games within a chat on the Messenger app. All these features are available for iOS users only.
