Meta makes a single Account Centre for Facebook, Instagram and more: All the details – Times of India
Meta’s family of apps — Instagram, Facebook, Messenger — have billions of users across the world. The social media company is making easier to manage certain settings across the three apps. In a blog post, Robert d’Apice, director of product management, Meta said that Meta will make finding and managing certain settings easier across multiple apps. These changes will reflect in Accounts Center, which is located in the settings menus for Facebook, Messenger and Instagram.
One central place to manage settings
Users will now find things like personal details, passwords and security, and Ad preferences in the Account Centre, so it’ll be easier for people who use multiple apps to manage their settings. Citing the example of ad preferences, d’Apice said, “you can now easily make your ad topic preferences consistent for Facebook and Instagram accounts by adding those accounts to the same Accounts Center.
Meta is also making improvements to some of the ad settings controls that can help people understand and manage their ads experience across its apps.
The company also said that it is making it easier for people to understand their options when it comes to seeing ads shown by Meta on other apps and websites. Meta also said that it exploring new ways to give people the ability to see more ads about the things that interest them, in addition to the existing option of seeing fewer ads about things that don’t interest them.
Things to keep in mind
Users have the option of adding more than one account to the same Accounts Centre. If users want to keep their accounts in separate Accounts Centers, they can. “For people who choose to do so, they will still have access to the same settings, and can apply them to individual accounts,” said d’Apice.
Meta said that these changes will begin to go into effect today, and will gradually roll out to everyone on Facebook, Messenger and Instagram in the coming months.
