Metallica is warning fans about these scams on YouTube, social media platforms

Four days ago, iconic band, Metallica dropped its first song — Lux Æterna — in six years. Not just that but a new album is also in the offing. For music lovers of a certain generation and genre, Metallica dropping a new song is a big deal. And it seems as if it is a rather big deal for scammers as well. So much so that Metallica had to take to Twitter to warn users about certain scams under the garb of Metallica’s giveaways.
In a tweet, the band officially warned its fans to not fall for any scam. Metallica said that its series of announcements — new song, new album, new tour — has seen “the ugly side of social media made an appearance.” The band in the statement said, “Many of you have let us know about YouTube channels and live streams, as well as websites, claiming to offer Metallica Crypto giveaways in conjunction with last week’s announcement.”
The band made it clear that these are scams and have nothing to do with them. “Let’s be as clear as possible. These are scams. They’re being streamed on fake YouTube channels posing to be ours and all pointing to websites that we do not run.”
Metallica has a safety ‘tip’ for users
Not just that, Metallica even offered a safety tip to the fans and other users by saying that all of its social media channels are verified. “Always look for official verification before believing something wild and crazy to be true.” It also said that users should be familiar with the symbols that indicate an official channel and report anything that is a scam.
Metallica further thanked the fans. “We thank all of you who have been vigilant in reporting these live streams to YouTube and to us… please don’t let up!”
