Sony recently announced the price hike on its latest-generation gaming console — PlayStation 5. This led to a message among Xbox fans that Microsoft will also follow the suit and increase the price of its Xbox Series X and Series S gaming consoles.

Sony recently announced the price hike on its latest-generation gaming console — PlayStation 5. This led to a message among Xbox fans that Microsoft will also follow the suit and increase the price of its Xbox Series X and Series S gaming consoles.
Windows Central has reported that the company has issued a statement to them confirming that the company is not planning to increase the prices of their gaming consoles anytime soon. And, the console price will remain the same as it was before.
The statement reads, “We are constantly evaluating our business to offer our fans great gaming options. Our Xbox Series S suggested retail price remains at $299 (£250, €300) the Xbox Series X is $499 (£450, €500).”
The statement does not guarantee that the company won’t be increasing the price of the consoles in future. But, this certainly comes as a relief to the Xbox fans that the company won’t be increasing the price of their newest-generation gaming consoles in any region as of now.
Sony is already a leader in the console market and has clocked much better sales compared to Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and Series S gaming consoles. However, the move Microsoft has just made by deciding not to increase the prices might help the company to clock more sales figures.
That’s something only time will tell. Meanwhile, Sony PlayStation 5 is set to receive a couple of new titles like The Last of Us Part I and God of War: Ragnarok. Both of them are pretty in-demand titles and that may help Sony maintain the high demand for their consoles.
Meanwhile, the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles continue to retail at Rs 49,990 and Rs 34,990 respectively.
