Microsoft has rolled out a new Windows 11 build 22000.282 to Windows Insider users in Beta and Preview channels. The build has reportedly resolved the widespread Windows 11 bug in PCs with AMD processors. As per a report by XDADevelopers, the update contains fixes for the L3 cache issue. When the new operating system was officially released to the public, computer processor manufacturer AMD revealed that the OS is negatively affecting its processors, resulting in reduced performance.
The company revealed that after installing Windows 11, measured and functional L3 cache latency on a few of its processors increased as much as three times that impacts access time of applications sensitive to memory subsystems. The performance issue is as high as 15% in certain games, but usually, the impact ranges between 3% and 5%. The official update released last Tuesday further worsened the issue but the latest build is said to resolve the bug.
Another issue stated by AMD was that preferred cores do not preferentially schedule threads on a processor’s fastest core after the update. This issue hampered applications sensitive to the performance of one or a few CPU threads. The new build has not addressed this issue and it is likely that it will be resolved by an AMD software update rather than a Windows update. The company has said that it will release a driver update this month only.
Apart from the L3 cache latency issue, the new build includes tons of fixes. This includes the issue where several users were still seeing Windows 10 style taskbar instead of new one. The list of fixes are expected to be rolled to the public in the next official patch.
The company also recently released a new build with new emojis to Windows Insider users in the Dev Channel.
