Windows 11 Taskbar is a one-stop solution for users to quickly access important background apps, network details, sound details and more. Now, Microsoft has started testing a new VPN indicator for Windows 11 Taskbar, according to a Windows Latest report.
The new Taskbar indicator is designed to make it easier for users to check their VPN connection status. Basically, users will be able to know whether VPN is currently active or not on their Windows 11 PC.
The feature is currently being tested with select Windows Insider users running the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview build.
The new VPN indicator looks like a ‘shield’ icon and it sits alongside other apps that are running in the background within the Taskbar. If the shield icon is present in the Taskbar, it indicates that the system is connected to a VPN network and VPN is currently active. However, the feature only works if the VPN in the system is connected from the built-in VPN tab under Network & Internet option.
Other Windows 11 test features
Meanwhile, Microsoft has recently added a new privacy dashboard to Windows 11. The new dashboard acts as the control centre for all privacy-related information. For instance, if Microsoft Edge is using location, then the privacy dashboard will show it to the user. Similarly, if an app is using a camera or microphone, all the information will be available under Windows 11’s privacy dashboard.
The privacy dashboard is also available in Windows Insider Preview Build and can be accessed from Settings → Privacy.
Apart from that, Microsoft has also updated the Link to Windows app in beta which now brings the ability to stream audio from the linked Android smartphone on the PC. The feature is called Stream audio to PC.
