Microsoft launches new affordable Microsoft 365 plan: Price, features and more – Times of India

Microsoft 365 subscription plans are rather expensive on the face of it. Now, the Satya Nadella-led company is rolling out an affordable subscription plan for its users. According to a report by The Verge, Microsoft has announced the Microsoft 365 Basic plan for its users.
What is the Microsoft 365 Basic plan?
Microsoft has a 100GB OneDrive storage option where you don’t get too many benefits. The Microsoft 365 Basic plan is an upgrade to it.

Microsoft 365 Basic plan: Price, availability

According to the report, the plan will be rolled out worldwide on January 30. However, at the time of the filing of the report, the plan isn’t listed on the Microsoft India website. So it’s not clear when — and if — it will be made available in India. In the US, the Microsoft 365 Basic plan will cost $1.99 per month. So if it does launch in India, we can expect it to cost under Rs 200 per month.
What are the features offered under Microsoft 365 Basic plan?
Users will get up to 100 GB of OneDrive cloud storage. In addition to it, users also get access to Outlook on the web and mobile without any ads. Microsoft also offers enhanced security features in Outlook under the plan. These features include data encryption for the mailbox, malware scanning and more.
Furthermore, the plan will also give users access to Microsoft’s technical support. Users can chat with Microsoft support staff over phone or online regarding any issues with Windows 11 or Microsoft 365 apps.
Do keep in mind that the plan doesn’t offer access to any of the desktop versions of Microsoft 365 Office apps like Word, Excel, or Powerpoint.

Other Microsoft 365 plans in India

The tech giant offers Microsoft 365 plans under two categories in India — Home and Business. The Home plans start at Rs 4,899 per year whereas the Business plans start at Rs 125 per month.
