Microsoft may soon roll out these new features for Windows 11 users – Times of India
Microsoft will reportedly add new Smart Clipboard and Smart Actions features with the upcoming Windows 11 update. As per a report by WindowsLatest, the tech giant will introduce a support for the new features with Windows 11 version 22H2 or Sun Valley 2. The features are said to offer a new way to paste content between the apps.
According to the report, both the features may be bundled together. As of now, there are not much details available about the feature yet but it may show suggested actions that you can take with the item in the clipboard. For example, if you have copied a mobile number, the feature may show you a suggestion to make a call from Skype or Microsoft Teams. Currently, the clipboard comes with a history panel that lets you store and paste multiple items including text, media, emojis, and GIFs. References to the new Smart Clipboard feature were also spotted in the previous beta build of Windows 11.
Microsoft has not revealed when the features will be available to users but is expected that the tool will be announced during the Microsoft’s hybrid work event next month.
With the recent release, Microsoft has also made it easier for users to switch default browsers in Windows 11. The Windows 11 build 22000.593 makes it easier for users to change their default browser. The operating system now gets a dedicated button in the control panel that allows users to pick the default browser of their choice. The change was first spotted by reverse engineer Rafael Rivera in Windows 11 build 22509 in the dev channel. It is an optional update.
With the launch of Windows 11, Microsoft changed the way users assign default apps. On the new operating system, users have to set default apps as per the file type or link type instead of a single switch.
