microsoft: Microsoft rolls out Windows 11 update with new emojis – Times of India

Microsoft has started to roll out a new cumulative update for Windows 11. The update brings in new emojis to the operating system that were announced by the company in July this year. The update KB5007262 brings the build number of the OS to 22000.348. You can install it by going into Settings > Windows Update or you can download the update manually through Microsoft’s support page.
When the operating system was first unveiled, the design team showed 3D emojis that looked similar to the ones in Apple devices. But when the preview builds of the OS started to roll out, users reported the emojis to be flat and less visually appealing than the ones shown during the presentation. It was later revealed that the 3D emojis are limited to apps such as Teams and Flipgrid. With the update, the company has upgraded all emoji from the Segoe UI Emoji font to the Fluent 2D emoji style. The new build also includes support for Emoji 13.1, which updates the emoji dictionary, adds the ability to search for Emoji 13.1 in all supported languages and updates the “Emoji and more panel” so you can enter emoji in your applications.
Apart from this, the new version also updates an issue that causes Internet Explorer to stop working when you copy and paste text while using the Input Method Editor (IME). It also fixes an issue that prevents the display of File Explorer and desktop shortcut menus. This issue often occurs when you choose to use a single click to open an item.
Last week, Microsoft rolled out a Windows 11 update for the users who are enrolled in the Dev Channel of the Windows Insider program. With the update, the company expanded thirteen themes for the touch keyboard to other input experiences, including IMEs, the emoji panel and voice typing.
