Microsoft Surface Pro 9, Surface Laptop 5 rumoured specs, release date revealed
As per the report, the consumer versions of the Surface Pro 9 and Surface Laptop 5 are likely to come powered by Intel i5-1245U or i7-1265U processors, while the commercial models are expected to feature Intel i5-1235U and i7-1255U CPUs along with Intel vPro support.
Microsoft Surface Pro 9 and Laptop 5: Expected availability
As per the report, the Intel-powered Surface Pro 9 and Surface Laptop 5 is expected to start shipping towards the end of October, while the ARM variant of Surface Pro 9 might arrive at the end of November. Microsoft’s Surface Pro 9 will succeed the Surface Pro 8 which was released in January.
The Intel-powered Surface Pro 9 is likely to ship in four different colour options — Platinum, Matte Black, Sapphire and Forest. A fifth colour variant — a combination of red and orange is also rumoured. However, the ARM version of the Surface Pro 9 will only be available in Platinum, the report suggests.
On the other hand, the Surface Laptop 5 is rumoured to arrive in two colour variants — Platinum and Black.
Microsoft Surface Pro 9: Expected specs
Microsoft’s upcoming Surface Pro 9 is expected to sport a 13-inch display that will support a 120Hz refresh rate. As mentioned above, the Surface Pro 9 is likely to come powered by both 12th-gen Intel processors and the ARM-based Snapdragon 8cx G3 chipsets. The Intel-powered models will support only Wi-Fi connectivity while the Snapdragon variants will also support 5G.
The Intel variants are rumoured to arrive 3 different RAM configurations — 8GB, 16GB and 32GB RAM along with four different storage combinations — 128GB, 256GB SSD, 512GB, 1TB SSD storage. The Snapdragon-powered models will have two RAM versions — 8GB or 16GB and three storage versions — 128GB, 256G and 512GB SSD storage.
Surface Pro 9 is expected to house both a front-facing and a rear-facing camera. The 5MP front camera can record videos up to 1080p while the 10MP rear camera can capture videos even at 4K resolution.
The upcoming Microsoft device will also support the Surface Pro Signature keyboard and the Surface Slim Pen 2. The Surface Pro 9 is likely to pack a 50.2WHr battery unit that claims to offer 16 hours of battery life. It is also rumoured to have multiple connectivity options, e-SIM support and a dual speaker setup with Dolby Atmos.
Surface Laptop 5: Expected specs
The Surface Laptop 5 is likely to have two different models — 13-inch and 15-inch. Both models will feature a 120Hz PixelSense Flow Display and will also come powered by the 12th-gen Intel i5 and i7 processors.
Both Surface Laptop 5 models are expected to offer three different RAM and storage variants — 8GB, 16GB and 32GB RAM variants and 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage options.
The upcoming laptop is likely to house a front camera that can record videos in 1080p resolution and features a quad-omnisonic speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support. This laptop is also likely to include multiple connectivity options and claims to offer a battery life of up to 19 hours.
