Microsoft has just concluded its fall Surface event. At the event, the company announced several new Surface devices and accessories including the all-new Surface Pro 9. Alongside this, the company has also announced the new Surface Laptop 5, Surface Studio 2+ and a few accessories like Speaker Dock and Presenter remote.
Microsoft Surface Pro 9: Specifications and features
Surface Pro 9, as mentioned, is a convertible device that comes with a detachable keyboard which includes backlit keys and Windows Precision-backed trackpad. Apart from that, this is the first Surface device to offer 5G connectivity.
Under the hood, the Surface Pro 9 comes with two processor options — 12th-generation Intel Core processors and Microsoft-Qualcomm custom SQ3 ARM chipset. Surface Pro 9 offers different configurations depending on the processor variant. The Intel chip-powered version comes with up to 32GB LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB SSD storage, while the SQ3 chip version supports up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.
The convertible laptop features a 13-inch PixelSense display and features a high-grade aluminium casing with a built-in kickstand just like previous Surface Pro devices. Also, the display supports 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision IQ.
Microsoft has launched the Surface Pro 9 keyboard cover in Sapphire, Forest and Liberty London Special Edition. Apart from that, the Surface Pro 9 supports the Surface Slim Pen stylus. It is also important to note that both accessories will be sold separately.
Apart from 5G, the Pro 9 also comes with two USB Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 support.
Microsoft claims that the Intel version will offer up to 16 hours of battery life, while the 5G version will offer a slightly better 19 hours of battery life.
The Surface Pro 9 with Intel processor is priced starting at $999, while, the 5G variant will start at $1,300. Pre-orders are now live and they will be available starting October 25.
