This automatic rollout is for PCs running on personal as well as corporate versions of Windows 11. Moreover, Home as well as Pro versions will be updated in this process.
New Windows 11 auto-update to help users “stay protected and productive”
As with Windows 10, Microsoft is opting for the auto-update feature with Windows 11 too. About the current rollout in progress, the official document said, “Today we begin to automatically update consumer and non-managed business devices running Windows 11, version 21H2 Home and Pro editions to Windows 11, version 22H2. Since Windows 10, we have been helping Windows users stay up-to-date and secure with supported versions of Windows through automatic updates. We are utilizing this same approach for Windows 11 to help you stay protected and productive.”
Talking about early feedback on 22H2, the tech giant said, “Customer feedback and analysis show a positive experience with Windows 11, version 22H2.”
Windows 11 22H2 to target oldest 21H2 versions first, can also be downloaded manually
Although the new Windows 11 update would ship automatically to users, the ones running the original version are priority. The company revealed, “The automatic update to Windows 11, version 22H2 will happen gradually starting with those devices that have been using version 21H2 for the longest period of time.”
Those in a hurry to try out the latest offering from Windows need not wait. The company has said that users running older versions can manually download the 22H2 update via Windows Update. Clicking on “Check for updates” will show the available downloads if the system is eligible.
Apart from a new Windows update, Microsoft has also introduced tabs to its text editing software, Notepad. This means that Notepad users will now be able to work on multiple text files in the same window.
