Microsoft Viva Goals gets a wider rollout: What is it and how will it help users

Microsoft recently introduced the Viva Goals management solution that supports the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) framework, available at multiple major organisations. The tech giant has announced that this tool can be used for tracking goals and progress and has been finally rolled out for the general public after months of private testing. Viva Goals is included under Microsoft Viva which allows companies to follow the progress of their teams and employees within a single section. The tool even allows users to easily attach daily tasks to long-term goals. Microsoft has updated its blog post to announce the wider rollout and explain how Viva Goals work.
Microsoft Viva Goals availability
Microsoft Viva Goals include two SKUs — the Microsoft Viva Goals SKU and the Microsoft Viva SKU. Users need to have certain licences to use the Viva Goals application in Teams, which include — Microsoft 365 F1, F3, E3, A3, E5, A5; Office 365 F3, E1, A1, E3, A3, E5, A5; Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Business Standard, Business Premium; or Microsoft SharePoint K, Plan 1, or Plan 2 license.

Importance of Microsoft Viva Goals
The company claims that Viva Goals will help “business leaders to build higher performing teams, HR leaders to improve employee experience and employees to feel a sense of purpose and belonging at work.”
Microsoft has also explained that a single hub for — “goal setting, monitoring progress and assessing success across an organisation” will help leaders to get clarity about their team, connect daily work with outcomes along with aligning them at all levels.

The tech giant also mentioned that users can utilise the customisable dashboards that turn data into insights for shifting focus from effort and activity to impact and outcomes, along with sharing progress across the organisation.
This tool will also help users by keeping goals “top of mind” and by bringing data and actions into the spaces that their team is already using like — Microsoft Teams, ADO, and other popular data and project management tools.
