Microsoft Windows users, the government has a warning for you – Times of India

Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN), the government body responsible for highlighting bugs and vulnerabilities in operating systems and services, has issued a warning for select Microsoft Windows users. According to the government body, “Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Windows Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP)”.
The vulnerabilities can allow unauthenticated remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system. The government body has classified the vulnerabilities as High severity.
What’s the issue and why do these vulnerabilities exist
According to the report, these vulnerabilities exist in Microsoft Windows due to a flaw in the Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP). An unauthenticated remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a specially crafted connection request to a RAS server.
