Microsoft Word may soon receive this important feature – Times of India
Microsoft may soon release a new OneDrive update that is expected to make editing and reviewing Microsoft Word documents “a lot more interactive.” According to a report by TechRadar, the company has revealed that it is developing a new feature for its cloud storage platform that is likely to make sharing and reviewing Microsoft Word files online. The official Microsoft 365 Roadmap listing has also mentioned this feature as “Review mode for Word documents in the sharing dialogue” where it is still showing as being “in development,” the report mentions. However, the report suggests that this feature is expected to be made available for common users within this month.
How the new Microsoft Word feature will work
As per the report, this update will allow Microsoft Word web users to click the Share command “in the eponymous button” and then “add the people they need to review the document to push it to OneDrive” allowing users to select the new “can review” option that offers selected individuals to access the Word document that needs reviewing.
The report also claims that Microsoft Word’s latest update shows that the company is aiming to ensure that its platform is equipped for users to embrace “the new world of hybrid working.”
Other changes coming to Microsoft Word
To compete with rival service Google Docs, Microsoft is adding another update to its Word platform where users will be allowed to switch seamlessly between “editing, reviewing, and viewing a document.”
Users will be able to find a new “Editing button in the Microsoft Word ribbon” that will offer three options on being clicked. These options will include — Editing, which will allow users to make direct changes to the document, Reviewing, which will allow users to suggest alterations, suggestions or comments and Viewing that will allow users to just go through the document without making any changes.
Apart from this, Microsoft has recently announced that its “popular predictive typing feature” will soon arrive for Word on Mac. The Editor Text Predictions tool guesses the next words that might be used and also suggests words or phrases while typing. This feature claims to improve the writing process for users who are slow typists.
