Lenovo-owned smartphone maker Motorola is set to launch the Moto X40 handset in China today (December 15). The upcoming handset’s expected specs and design has been leaked by multiple certification sites and other sources. Now, the company has shared an official poster of the Moto X40 on the social media platform Weibo. The poster not only teases the design of the upcoming smartphone but also confirms the start time of the launch event in China. Another Weibo post by the company has also confirmed multiple speculated features regarding the Moto X40 including — a 165Hz refresh rate display, IP68 waterproof rating and MYUI 5.0 based on Android 13.

According to the Weibo post, the Moto X40 China launch event will start today at 7:30 pm local time. The event will be live-streamed on Weibo. Pricing and availability details are expected to be revealed by the company at the event.

The Weibo post also offers the first official look at the upcoming smartphone and the phone’s design aligns with the previous renders that were leaked online. Moto X40’s back panel will include a rectangular camera island that will house the triple rear camera setup and a circular LED flash unit. The handset will have curved edges and display with a punch-hole front camera setup. The teaser has also revealed that the device may arrive in two different colour variants — Blue and Black.

Moto X40 is likely to sport a 6.67-inch OLED display that will support Full HD+ resolution, HDR10+ and a refresh rate of 165 Hz. The smartphone will come powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform and will be backed with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

For photography, the Moto X40 will house a triple rear camera setup that may include a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a 12MP telephoto unit with 2x optical zoom.
The smartphone may offer two battery variants — a 5,000mAh battery pack with 68W fast charging and a 4,600mAh battery unit with 120W fast charging. For connectivity, the smartphone may come equipped with — NFC, dual-band 5G, Bluetooth 5.3, USB Type C and a twin speaker setup.
Moto X40 has been confirmed to run MyUI 5.0 custom skin based on the Android 13 operating system.
