Motorola Frontier renders show a camera bump on top of a camera bump

TL;DR

  • A new Motorola Frontier render shows a significant main camera bump.
  • Motorola’s device is now said to come with a 194MP camera.

The Motorola Frontier was the subject of leaked renders and specs earlier this year, purportedly boasting a 200MP main camera. Now, veteran tipster Evan Blass has posted new renders that show us just how large the camera bump is.

The render shows a two-tiered camera bump, with the first tier hosting the secondary cameras and the top tier accommodating the ultra-high-resolution main camera. Check the image at the top of the page.

Blass says the main camera is actually a 194MP shooter. It’s unclear if Motorola is using a different sensor or if it’s sticking with the 200MP HP1 Samsung camera sensor and merely cropping it. It wouldn’t be the first time we see the latter solution, as Sony’s Xperia Pro-I uses a 20MP sensor but crops it to 12MP and markets it as such.

Either way, this would be a major leap forward for smartphone camera resolution. However, the jury is obviously still out on whether it’ll result in picture quality improvements.

Specs previously leaked by WinFuture and TechnikNews point to the phone having a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus SoC, a 6.67-inch 144Hz OLED screen, and a 4,500mAh battery. The phone is also said to have 125W wired charging speeds, 50W wireless charging, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 12MP 2x tele lens.

The Motorola Frontier is tipped to arrive in July 2022, so it seems like we still have a few months to go until an official reveal.
