Multi-level regenerative braking, cruise control
Tata Motors recently unveiled the #JetEdition special edition models of the Nexon EV Prime and the Nexon EV MAX in India. The Tata Tiago EV will add onto the EV model portfolio and will sit just below the Tata Tigor EV compact sub-4m sedan.
Tata Tiago EV features
Ahead of its September 28th India launch, Tata Motors has announced that its entry level EV hatchback, the Tiago EV, will come equipped with multi-level regenerative braking, cruise control and a dedicated Sports mode. Multi-gen regenerative braking is a feature that has made its way into the Nexon EV Prime and the Nexon EV MAX. The Tigor EV is likely to get it too very soon. This feature would enable an extended range and can also make one pedal driving possible, a helpful addition to city driving conditions for with the hatchback will mainly be aimed at.
According to Tata, the Tiago EV is also expected to get Cruise Control and a dedicated Sports mode. The Tiago EV is likely to adopt Tigor EV’s ZipTron EV powertrain which comprises of a motor that produces 75hp of power and 170Nm of torque and is mated to a 26kWh lithium-ion battery that is good for 306km of claimed range. The powertrain accepts faster 25kW DC charging and full charges within 1 hour 5 minutes at that speed.
The Tata Tiago EV can be expected to be cheaper by a lakh as compared to the Tigor EV, given that the difference between the ICE powered Tiago and Tigor is such.
