New Assassin’s Creed game ‘Codename Red’ announced with short teaser

In a fresh announcement, Ubisoft has teased that the Assassin’s Creed series is now going to Japan with a new mainline game that will feature ninjas in their homeland. The French game developer teased the new game at its 2022 Ubisoft Forward gaming showcase.
In the teased video, which is very short, we get a brief glimpse of a ninja landing at the top of a house after leaping from below levels, brandishing a sword in the right hand and the signature concealed blade in the left. The Japan-based outing is going to be an open-world one and has a working title of ‘Codename Red’ for now.

Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will be the next mainline entry into the franchise. The development of the action RPG is being led by Ubisoft Quebec.

Ubisoft also confirmed Assassin’s Creed Mirage recently, which started out as an expansion pack to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla but later transformed into a full-fledged standalone title. It features Basim of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and is set a few decades earlier than the events in Valhalla. The game is expected to be more like the older titles in the series, with a focus on their traditional, stealthy gameplay as compared to recent years’ outings.
Now that it’s been announced, we can say that it was only a matter of time before the Assassin;’s Creed franchise went to Japan. Fans have been clamouring for a Japan-based Assassin’s Creed outing for a long time and now their wishes have been fulfilled. Codename Red would be another huge game to be set in Japan after Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Ghost of Tsushima.
