New Google TV mobile app update brings design changes and more
Google has been updating its first-party apps and services with the new Material You design update. The company has recently updated its Android Auto, Nearby Share and Google Search with the new Material You theme and now it has updated the Google TV mobile app.
9to5Google has reported that the Google TV app on Android has started receiving a new update that brings the Material You theme to the app.
Google TV app update: What’s new
First and foremost, the update brings an updated bottom ribbon. It’s taller and incorporates a pill-shaped design to highlight the currently active tab. The updated Google TV mobile app also brings a redesigned menu bar. In addition to that, there’s a search bar at the centre with the Google TV logo. The search bar also includes the profile icon and cast button. According to the report, users can now tab anywhere on the entire search bar to run a search. Previously, users were required to tap the lens icon to open the search field.
The overall colour theme has also changed. Although, Google hasn’t included the dynamic colour theme with the update. It has received a new background treatment. The app now features a greyish colour in the background.
The app update, according to the report, is now rolling out widely across the globe. However, it is a gradual rollout and may take a while to reach every Android device out there.
How to update Google TV app
To update the Google TV app to its latest version, open Google Play Store. Tap on the Search bar at the top and type Google TV app. If the update is available, you’ll see the ‘Update’ button. Tap on it to initiate the update process.
Alternatively, you can head to the My apps & games section within Google Play and look for the Google TV app and update it.
