New Yamaha E01 and NEO’S electric scooters showcased in India

Yamaha showcases E01 and NEO’S e-scooters in India

Yamaha took the wraps off of the Yamaha E01 and Yamaha NEO’S electric scooter in India and hints at the Japanese automaker’s plans to enter the Indian EV arena soon (via Rushlane).

The Yamaha E01 e-scooter sits parallel to a comparable 125cc ICE powered scooter. Yamaha already has a good hold in this segment in India, thanks to offerings such as Yamaha Fascino and Yamaha RayZR. The E01 is the larger of the two e-scooters with a maxi style inspired design language, twin-pod LED headlamps, a compact windscreen and a large single-piece seat. It also gets a digital instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity, keyless start and riding modes. Under the skin, there is an 11kW motor that’s paired to a battery pack and delivers 80km of range on a full charge.

The Yamaha NEO’S is the smaller sibling out of the two e-scooters and resembles that in its compact and rounded design language. It would slot in next to a comparable 50cc scooter. The 2.5kW electric motor is paired to a single 50.4V, 19.2Ah Lithium-ion battery pack that delivers a range of 38.5km of riding range in ECO mode. This range can further be extended to 68km when an additional battery pack (dual battery setup) is installed. The BLDC hub motor generates a peak power of 3.4PS in standard mode and 136Nm of peak torque. The battery charges in 8 hours via a wall socket charger.

The pricing on the Yamaha NEO’S in Europe markets has been fixed at EUR 3,005 ( ~ Rs 2.52 lakh) which slots it above all e-scooters currently on sale in India. The Yamaha E01 is currently only available on lease to selected customers in Japan.
