No Facebook is not giving up yet on metaverse, this Quest announcement shows – Times of India
Reality Labs is a Meta-owned business that produces virtual reality and augmented reality hardware and software, including virtual reality headsets such as Quest.
Next-generation Quest headset may be called Quest 3
During the company’s latest earnings call, Whener noted that “the next generation of the consumer Quest headset” will launch “later next year.” In fact, Zuckerberg also referenced the “next generation of our consumer Quest headset.” While both of the C-suite executives did not name the headset, reports suggest it could be called Quest 3.
It is possible that we may see the debut of the VR headset in question at the company’s annual Connect event next year.
Zuckerberg has talked about the next VR headset in the past about Quest 3. Soon after the launch of its flagship Quest Pro headset, the Meta chief said that “there’s going to be a consumer device like Quest 2 and Quest 3, the next generation that we’re working on, we’re not releasing it right now.”
As far as the price and features are concerned, it is rumoured to be priced similar to the Quest 2. It is also said that face and eye tracking will be “a big focus,” for the next version of Quest headset.
Reality Labs operating losses
Apart from confirming the launch of next-generation Quest headset, Meta CFO also noted that the company anticipates that Reality Labs operating losses in 2023 will grow significantly year-over-year. Meta has reportedly lost more than $9 billion in 2022 so far which is just under the $10 billion it lost in 2021.
