It was only last month that Nokia announced it’s rebooting the iconic 8210 phone and launching it with a bargain £64.99 price tag, and now they’re releasing another handset for the same price. Today the Finnish phone maker has revealed its bringing back the iconic flip phone design – which was all the rage in the 90s – with its new Nokia 2660 Flip. This handset will be an easy-to-use device which boasts large buttons and a zoomed-in display which makes it an ideal purchase for older relatives or elderly friends that aren’t comfortable using a smartphone. And best of all the Nokia 2660 Flip will cost just £64.99.
The Nokia 2660 Flip is available to order today in the UK from the Nokia website, with the flip phone coming in three colours – black, red and blue.
The handset comes with a 2.8inch screen as well as a zoomed-in user interface which makes reading what’s on screen easy.
Plus, the new Nokia phone also comes with Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC) as another extra bonus for elderly users.
Nokia says the 2660 Flip has a battery that will last for weeks while there is also a dedicated emergency button in case you need to use it.
Hitting this button – whether the phone is closed or open – will call up to five contacts quickly in case of an emergency.
The Nokia 2660 Flip has also been tested to ensure the flip mechanic will last for years, and is durable enough to last through tens of thousands of flip cycles.
Speaking about the Nokia 2660 Flip Adam Ferguson, the global head of proposition at HMD Global, said: “Our flip phones have always proved incredibly popular with seniors, but more recently we are seeing younger audiences adopt the feature phone trend thanks to their simple to use functionality, signature durability and extended battery life. The Nokia 2660 Flip is a reliable companion for all ages.”
The Nokia 2660 Flip supports 3G and 4G networks, so even when 3G services shutdown in the UK you’ll be able to take advantage of 4G connections.
The release of the Nokia 2660 Flip comes after last week Nokia also launched its reboot of the iconic 8210.
This handset is available to buy in the UK as well and is also priced at £64.99.
Nokia says this handset, which also supports 4G, should last at least a week on a single charge.
Despite being a cheap as chips phone you’ll still be able to access apps such as Facebook and – in a nice nod to the classic Nokia phones from the 90s – the new 8210 will also ship with iconic mobile game Snake.
