Nothing has silently ‘changed’ this Phone (1) feature – Times of India

At the time of launch, Nothing Phone (1) was marketed as one of the brightest displays on a smartphone in its price range. The handset achieved 1200 nits of peak brightness with HDR content. However, it appears that wasn’t true as the company has silently updated the specifications section of the smartphone.
ComputerBase recently reported that Nothing Phone (1) can’t achieve more than 500 nits of brightness which was way less than what Nothing claimed at the launch. GSMArena’s report claims that Nothing has silently updated the specifications page of the device and it now mentions 500 nits or regular max brightness and 700 nits while viewing HDR content.
Web Archive has already cached the older version of the Nothing Phone (1)’s specification page which clearly mentions the 1200 nits of max brightness while viewing HDR content. Thankfully, other specifications of the display such as 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, 240Hz touch sampling, etc are accurate and there’s no change in that department.
Nothing Phone (1): Specifications
Nothing Phone (1) features a transparent back with a unique design composed of over 400 components. On the back, it has something called the Glyph Interface, which according to Nothing, is a new way of communicating to help minimise screen time. Phone (1) has a 6.55” OLED display and HDR10+. It offers an adaptive 102Hz refresh rate.
Phone (1) is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ chipset, which has been custom-made for Nothing. It is a 5G chipset and offers wireless and reverse charging.
It runs Nothing OS based on Android 12 operating system.
Phone (1) has a dual camera setup featuring two 50 MP sensors, with the main camera powered by the flagship Sony IMX766. It offers wide ƒ/1.8 aperture, dual image stabilisation and 10-bit colour videos among other features. Users also get other features like Night Mode and Scene detection.
