Nothing Phone (1) receives Android 13 in the closed beta test – Times of India

The wait for the Android 13 of Nothing Phone (1) users could soon end as the company releases the first closed beta of Android 13-based Nothing OS today.
Nothing OS 1.5, the Android 13-based software update for the Phone (1), has been teased for quite some time now. Today, Carl Pei, the founder of Nothing, took it to Twitter, announcing that the closed beta of the Android 13-based build starts today, and the open beta is scheduled to begin in the next two weeks.

However, so far, there has been no information about how one can register to try out the beta version of the software. So, Nothing’s ‘closed beta’ seems to be more of an internal testing within its staff and community members. We also await information on how to register for the open beta, which should come sometime around next month.
Nothing Phone (1) to get Android 13 stable update early next year
The Nothing Phone (1) is slated to receive Android 13 by early 2023. We expect the interface to remain as stock as possible, similar to the Android 12-based Nothing OS, but with some cues of Nothing’s design philosophy, like dot matrix font and widgets.
Nothing received quite a flak over its software. However, over the last few months, Nothing has been fine-tuning the software, addressing the bugs, and also adding some new nifty features.
Nothing OS 1.1.7 released for Phone (1)
The recent Nothing OS 1.1.7 update adds the battery-status indicator for Apple AirPods and improves video quality for live music. Further, the update bumps up the Android security patch to that of November and smoothens the performance.
