NEW DELHI: OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei started his new consumer technology startup called ‘Nothing‘ last year. The company has now announced a $70 million Series B fundraise, co-led by EQT Ventures and C Ventures and with participation from GV, Tony Fadell’s Future Shape, Gaorong Capital and Animoca Brands. Headquartered at London, the startup claims that the new funding will go towards scaling its product ecosystem and establishing its London Design Hub.
The company also announced that it will host a Noting event on March 23. The online event will begin at 7.30 pm IST on March 23 and the company will reveal its roadmap for the year 2022 there.
The new investment brings the total raised by Nothing to $144 million to date, including $1.5 million from its first community investment round which broke a record for fastest $1 million raised. The funding will be used to create new product categories in partnership with Qualcomm Technologies and its Snapdragon platform, and grow operations at its new London Design Hub, led by ex-Dyson Head of Design Adam Bates.
Carl Pei, CEO and Co-founder of Nothing, said, “With this round of financing, we have the fuel to realise the next phase of our vision of a seamless digital future. I’m grateful for the support from our community and investors. Our first year was a warmup, and we can’t wait to reveal what we’re building at Nothing during the upcoming event.”
Recently, an online report revealed that Nothing is working on its first smartphone. According to an online report by TechCrunch, Nothing is said to launch its first smartphone in April 2022. Details about the smartphone are scarce right now. However, the report suggests that the smartphone will come with a similar design language as the TWS. This means the device is said to come with the same ‘elements of transparency’ design as the true wireless earbuds.
